Which District of Telangana has the Lowest Literacy Rate?

Telangana, a state in southern India, has a diverse range of districts with varying literacy rates. Among these, Jogulamba Gadwal district stands out as having the lowest literacy rate. Telangana, located in southern India on the Deccan Plateau, became a separate state on June 2, 2014, with Hyderabad as its capital. It is the eleventh-largest state by area and twelfth by population. Telangana’s economy ranks ninth in India, with a strong focus on IT, industry, and services. Telugu is the state’s official language. The state is also home to key defense and aerospace research institutions.

Administrative Divisions of Telangana

Telangana is organized into 33 districts, with Mulugu and Narayanpet being the newest, created on February 17, 2019. These districts are further subdivided into 70 revenue divisions and 584 mandals. Across the state, there are 10,909 revenue villages and 12,769 gram panchayats, forming the foundation of local governance and administration in the state.

Literacy Rate in Telangana

The literacy rate in Telangana stands at 66.54%, with a significant gender gap. Male literacy is higher at 75.04%, while female literacy lags behind at 57.99%. Efforts are ongoing to improve educational access and bridge this gap across the state.

District of Telangana with the Lowest Literacy Rate

Jogulamba Gadwal district in Telangana has the lowest literacy rate, standing at 49.87%. With a population of 609,990, the district has 304,202 literate individuals. The low literacy rate reflects challenges in education access and development, particularly in rural and underdeveloped areas.

Second District of Telangana with the Lowest Literacy Rate

Narayanpet district in Telangana has the second-lowest literacy rate at 49.93%. Out of its population of 566,874, about 283,040 individuals are literate. The district faces educational challenges, especially in rural areas, affecting its overall literacy development and growth.
