Djokovic Wins Seventh China Open Title and 102nd Tour-Level Trophy
Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic won the 2026 China Open men’s singles title in Beijing on 6 October 2026, securing his seventh title at the tournament and the 102nd tour-level trophy of his career.
The final ended unexpectedly when Australia’s Alex de Minaur retired because of a groin injury early in the second set. At the time, Djokovic was leading 7-6(3), 0-1.
With this victory, Djokovic improved his remarkable China Open record to 34-0 across seven appearances.
He has now won the tournament every time he has entered, underlining his dominance at the Beijing event.
The 2026 title also made Djokovic the oldest ATP 500 champion since the category was introduced in 2009, achieving the feat at the age of 39 years.
The China Open is a professional tennis tournament held in Beijing, People’s Republic of China.
The men’s event is part of the ATP Tour and is classified as an ATP 500 tournament.
The ATP 500 category was introduced in 2009 and awards 500 ranking points to the singles champion.
The China Open triumph was Djokovic’s 102nd tour-level title.
This placed him:
| Player | Tour-Level Titles |
|---|---|
| Jimmy Connors | 109 |
| Roger Federer | 103 |
| Novak Djokovic | 102 |
Djokovic had a dramatic path to the championship match.
In the quarterfinals, he defeated Alexander Zverev.
In the semifinals, he advanced past Daniil Medvedev after Medvedev was disqualified for hitting a spectator.
Djokovic then faced Alex de Minaur in the final, where the Australian was forced to retire because of injury.
The China Open victory was also Djokovic’s first ATP Tour title of the 2026 season.
The title ended an 11-month trophy drought, which had continued since November 2025.
The victory therefore represented an important milestone in Djokovic’s 2026 season as he returned to the winner’s circle.
