Donald Trump unveils plan for ‘Arc de Trump’ Monument in Washington, DC
United States President Donald Trump had unveiled plans for the massive gold accented triumphal arch which set to be called as the ‘Arc de Trump’ will be built in the Washington DC. This proposed monument will stand around 250 feet tall and make it larger than iconic structures like the United States Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial. The structure is designed as the grand symbol to honor the American heroes and national pride.
The design of the arch is inspired by the famous Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France. It will feature the gold inscriptions and the large decorative elements like eagles and lions and also the torch-like structure similar to the Statue of Liberty. This arch is set to be planned to be located near the Memorial Bridge and will be creating the grand entrance into the US capital.
The proposal for this project has been submitted to the Commission of Fine Arts for the review. According to the plans this project may receive the public funding which includes the millions allocated through the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). However this project still requires the multiple approvals and to face the legal and financial scrutiny.
The “Arc de Trump” is part of the broader effort to reshape the capital’s landscape. Other major proposals also include the renovations of the Kennedy Center and also plans for the National Garden of American Heroes. These initiatives are aim to redefine the cultural and the symbolic identity of US Capital.
This project has sparked debate and criticism in the country. As the concerns over public spending, historical preservation and the urban planning. Several groups have already raised the objections and legal challenges and which will be making the future of the project uncertain.
