Dr. Jitendra Singh to Preside Over 12th All India Pension Adalat

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, will chair the 12th All India Pension Adalat in New Delhi on February 13, 2025. Organized by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW), this initiative aims to resolve long-pending pension grievances of retired Central Government employees. With 180 cases under review, the event seeks to provide immediate resolutions to pensioners whose issues have been pending for over 120 days. The Pension Adalat has played a crucial role in grievance redressal since its launch in 2017, significantly improving the efficiency of pension-related dispute settlements.

What is the Purpose of the 12th All India Pension Adalat?

The primary objective of the Pension Adalat is to address and resolve pension-related grievances that have remained unresolved for a long time. This session will focus on cases from 16 different Ministries and Departments, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO), Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, and Ministry of Railways. Senior officials and nodal representatives from these departments will be present to ensure a quick and effective resolution process.

How Has the Pension Adalat Benefited Retired Government Employees?

Since its inception in September 2017, the Pension Adalat initiative has made significant progress in addressing pension-related disputes. Over 11 previous sessions, a total of 18,005 cases have been resolved with a success rate exceeding 71%. The initiative has not only expedited grievance redressal but also reduced the need for pensioners to seek legal remedies, saving them both time and resources. By bringing together officials from various departments, banks, and accounting offices, the platform ensures that cases are reviewed in real-time, leading to quicker resolutions.

What Does This Mean for the Future of Pension Reforms in India?

The government’s continued efforts to organize Pension Adalats highlight its commitment to the welfare of retired employees. The Pension Adalat is an integral part of the government’s broader pension reforms, ensuring that retired employees receive their rightful benefits without unnecessary delays. By implementing such measures, the DoPPW aims to streamline pension processes and enhance the overall experience for pensioners. The initiative also reinforces the government’s dedication to senior citizens’ dignity, ensuring that they receive timely financial support without bureaucratic hurdles.

The 12th All India Pension Adalat is a step forward in making pension disbursal more efficient and pensioners’ concerns more visible at the highest administrative levels. This initiative strengthens trust between the government and its retired workforce, reaffirming its promise to support and care for them in their post-retirement years.
