DRDO Unveils Two Advanced Armoured Platforms to Boost India’s Defence Modernisation

The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has unveiled the two advanced armored platforms which are designed to meet the evolving and modern needs of the armed forces. This announcement was made in the Ahilyanagar Maharashtra where it have marked the another milestone for the India’s push for the defense self-reliance and modernization.

Key Highlights of the Newly Unveiled Platforms

This newly introduced platforms includes the both tracked and wheeled variant and they offers the flexibility across the different terrains and combat scenarios.

These platforms have been developed by the Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (VRDE) which is the key DRDO laboratory.

Both systems are equipped with the indigenously developed 30 mm crewless turret which significantly enhances the battlefield efficiency and safety.

The turret is integrated with the advanced targeting systems and weapon configurations and making it suitable for the modern combat environments.

Advanced Firepower and Combat Capabilities

One of the important features of these platforms is their powerful armament system.

The 30 mm crewless turret along with a 7.62 mm PKT gun provides the strong offensive capability.

Additionally this system is capable of to launching the Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs) and making it highly effective against the armoured threats.

The modular design allows the platforms to be adapted for the multiple combat roles and will increase their operational dynamics in diverse mission scenarios.

Superior Mobility and Protection Features

The platforms are also designed with the high power-to-weight ratio and it ensuring the better speed and agility on the battlefield.

It also equipped with the high-power engine and automatic transmission and they can navigate difficult terrains with ease.

Key mobility and protection features include their ability to climb steep gradients and cross obstacles.

Also the STANAG Level 4 and 5 protection which will be ensuring high survivability along with this modular blast and ballistic protection on the all sides.

These features will make the platforms suitable for the both land and amphibious operations and it will provide the enhanced flexibility to the armed forces.

Boost to Indigenous Defense Manufacturing

The major highlight of this development is the strong focus on to the indigenous production.

Currently the platforms have about 65% indigenous content and it plans to increase it to the 90% in the future.

The manufacturing has been carried out with the collaboration with leading Indian companies like TATA Advanced Systems Limited and Bharat Forge Limited  along with support from MSMEs.
