Cabinet authorises signing of guarantees for FIFA Under 17 Women’s WC in India

The signing of the guarantees for hosting the FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup in India in 2022 has been accepted by the Union Cabinet, which is presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 is slated to take place in India from October 11 to October 30. The seventh iteration of the biennial youth competition will mark India’s first-ever hosting of a FIFA women’s championship.

  • The nation is getting ready for a historic time for women’s football, when the top young female footballers from across the world will be demonstrating their skills to lift the prized trophy, continuing the positive legacy from the FIFA Under-17 Men’s World Cup 2017.
  • The budgetary allotment for the Scheme of Aid to National Sports Federations will be used to cover the financial outlay of Rs 10 crore assistance to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for field of play maintenance, stadium power, energy & cabling, stadium & training site branding, etc.
  • Potentially strengthening women’s football in the nation is the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022. The nation is getting ready for a historic time for women’s football, when the top young female footballers from across the world will be demonstrating their skills to lift the prized trophy, continuing the positive legacy from the FIFA Under 17 Men’s World Cup 2017.
