The FIFA World Cup 2026 has entered the most dramatic and thrilling stage of the tournament as quarter-final fixtures have already started. Each of the teams is looking to book their place in the final four of the World Cup. As of 11th July, 2026, Spain and France have already entered the semi-finals after they beat Belgium and Morocco, respectively. After the completion of quarterfinals, winners will compete against each other in the semis. In the first match of the quarterfinals, France booked their place in the semifinals after a commanding 2-0 win over Morocco.
Goals from Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé confirmed France’s spot in the semifinals, where they will meet Spain.
Spanish footballer Mikel Merino scored just before the end of the match, when Spain defeated Belgium with the score of 2-1.
With this victory, Spain entered the semifinals of the World Cup, where it will play on 14th July, 2026, against France in Dallas.
In the first half of the game, beginning in the 30th minute, Spain took the lead with a goal scored by Fabian Ruiz. However, the score was equalized by Charles De Ketelaere in the 41st minute.
