India’s internet freedom improves after 4 years: Following initiatives to close the digital divide in the nation, India’s internet freedom score increased by two points to 51 in the overall ranking, according to the US government-funded NGO Freedom House. Reduced frequency and intensity of nationwide internet outages also contributed to the score improvement. In terms of internet freedom, India scored 49 in 2021.

In Washington, D.C., a non-profit organisation called Freedom House conducts research and advocates for political freedom, democracy, and human rights. Wendell Willkie and Eleanor Roosevelt served as the organization’s first honorary chairpersons when it was created in October 1941. About 150 people work for the charitable organisation Freedom House worldwide. It has field offices in roughly a dozen nations, including the Ukraine, Hungary, Serbia, Jordan, Mexico, and nations in Central Asia, with its main office in Washington, D.C.
