India, under its G20 Presidency, is taking forward its women-led development agenda through the G20 EMPOWER 2023. The theme for the second EMPOWER meeting, scheduled to be held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is “Women’s Empowerment: A Win-Win for Equity and Economy.” This inclusive, ambitious, and action-oriented G20 Presidency is perfectly timed to accelerate the global focus on empowering women.
The G20 EMPOWER 2nd Meeting will include panel discussions on a range of topics, including advancing women’s entrepreneurship, increasing investment in education, and enabling leadership across all levels. The meeting will also feature side events on important issues such as investing in infrastructure to support the care economy and navigating corporate culture for women’s empowerment.
The Communique of G20 EMPOWER, which will include recommendations to G20 leaders, will reflect the thematic discussions and deliberations of the meeting’s various sessions. Points of consensus emerging from the main events and side events will also be included.
In her address at the EMPOWER Inception Meeting in Agra, Smt Smriti Zubin Irani, Honourable Minister of Women & Child Development, emphasized the importance of placing women at the center of decision-making to ensure a better future for all. The G20 EMPOWER Alliance has a crucial role to play in setting the agenda for the next phase of development towards economic prosperity with a focus on women’s empowerment.
