GAIL Secures 10-year LNG Deal With UAE

GAIL, India’s leading gas company, has made significant strides in enhancing its liquefied natural gas (LNG) portfolio through a recent partnership with the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) ADNOC Gas. Under this deal, GAIL is set to procure 0.5 million tonnes of LNG annually for a decade, marking a crucial step towards meeting India’s growing demand for natural gas.

Expanding Partnerships: The ADNOC Agreement

In a statement released by GAIL, it was confirmed that the company has inked a long-term contract with ADNOC Gas for the supply of LNG. Commencing in 2026, the deliveries from ADNOC will play a pivotal role in bridging the demand-supply gap of natural gas in India. Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL, highlighted the significance of this agreement in fostering strategic partnerships between GAIL and ADNOC across various segments within the energy domain.

Diversification Strategy: GAIL’s Vision

This recent deal with ADNOC Gas underscores GAIL’s commitment to diversifying its LNG portfolio and ensuring a stable supply of natural gas for India’s energy needs. With a focus on long-term sustainability and strategic partnerships, GAIL is positioning itself as a key player in the global LNG market.

Parallel Endeavors: The Vitol Deal

Interestingly, this agreement with ADNOC Gas marks the second long-term LNG purchase deal signed by GAIL in the same month. Earlier, the company sealed a deal with global commodity trader Vitol, wherein GAIL committed to purchasing one million tonnes of LNG annually for a decade, also starting in 2026. This dual approach underscores GAIL’s proactive strategy in securing reliable sources of LNG to meet India’s burgeoning energy requirements.

A Steady Path Forward

GAIL’s recent agreements with ADNOC Gas and Vitol exemplify its strategic foresight and proactive approach towards meeting India’s growing demand for natural gas. By forging strong partnerships and diversifying its LNG portfolio, GAIL is poised to play a crucial role in India’s energy landscape for years to come.
