Gandhinagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express: About

  • Gandhinagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express is a 16-coach train, which can accommodate 1,128 passengers, will stop at Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad stations before arriving in Gandhinagar.
  • In order to make travel safer and more comfortable, the new Vande Bharat trains will include upgraded features including reclining seats, automated fire sensors, CCTV cameras, on-demand content with wifi, three-hour battery backup, and GPS systems.
  • The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai hopes to have built 75 Vande Bharat trains by the end of August 2023.
  • The trains’ roof-mounted package unit (RMPU) contains a photocatalytic UV air purification technology.
  • This system is built and placed on both ends of the RMPU, as advised by the Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIO), Chandigarh, to filter and clean the air free from contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms coming through fresh air and returning air.

How is the Gandhinagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express better?

  • Compared to the two trains that are now in service, travelling on the new trains would be more comfortable. The new trains’ coaches will be lighter than those of the earlier trains for this reason.
  • The train’s weight has been decreased by 38 tonnes to 392 tonnes, and it can still run even if the rails are under two feet of floodwater.
  • They are constructed from stainless steel. Less weight would make the passengers more comfortable even at high speeds.
  • There are automatic gates that the pilot controls. There is more room for the bags because the windows are larger.
  • The installed toilet will be cutting-edge. With the exception of a few small components, the majority of the trains’ parts are “Made in India.” A modern train called the Vande Bharat Express is revolutionising passenger travel in India.
