Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), India’s specialised university for the transport and logistics sector, has entered into a new partnership with Amazon, one of the largest e-commerce companies in the world. This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to strengthen learning, research, and innovation in the logistics and warehousing fields.
The main purpose of this MoU is to encourage the sharing of knowledge between the university and Amazon. Both partners will work together to design new academic courses, update existing study material, and carry out joint research. A major highlight of the agreement is the creation of an Amazon Chair Professorship at GSV, which will focus on research related to modern warehousing using data-driven methods.
Prof. Manoj Choudhary, the Vice Chancellor of GSV, expressed that the university is dedicated to building strong talent and carrying out deep research for India’s growing logistics system. He shared that working with Amazon India will help students and researchers learn directly from industry experts, leading to better planning, design, and innovation in transport and logistics.
GSV was set up as a Central University through an Act of Parliament in 2022. It functions under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. The university focuses on all branches of transportation—Railways, Highways, Ports, Aviation, Maritime, Shipping, Inland Waterways, Urban Transport, and the overall logistics and supply chain sector.
The institution is led by Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & IT, who serves as the Chancellor.
This partnership is expected to help students gain practical knowledge, encourage advanced research, and support India’s goal of improving its logistics efficiency. By combining academic strength with Amazon’s industry expertise, the collaboration aims to create new ideas and solutions for the future of India’s transportation and warehousing sectors.
