The Maharashtra state cabinet approved the implementation of the gender-inclusive tourism policy called “Aai” in an effort to empower women in the tourism industry. The policy will be implemented through the Directorate of Tourism (DoT) and Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC).

The Tourism minister, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, aims to create one lakh employment opportunities through this policy. The policy will prioritize women entrepreneurship development, infrastructure, safety, and customized products and offer discounts on travel and tourism development. An appointed task force will oversee the policy’s effective implementation.
