The Government of India has approved the proposal of setting up of National Technical Textiles Mission with an outlay of Rs. 1480 crores. The National Technical Textiles Mission would be set up for a period of 4 years from 2020-21 to 2023-24.

About the National Technical Textile Mission:
The National Technical Textile Mission which has received the approval from the Government of India focuses on the development in usage of technical textiles in various flagship missions as well as programmes of the country. The mission aims for overall improvement in cost economy, water and soil conservation along with better agricultural productivity and higher income to farmers per acre of land. The application of geo-textiles in highways, railways as well as in ports will result in robust infrastructure, reduced maintenance cost and higher life cycle of the infrastructure assets.
The Mission will also work towards the promotion of innovation amongst young engineering /technology/ science standards and graduates along with creation of innovation and incubation centres and promotion of start-up and Ventures. The mission also seeks to generate 2 lakhs jobs in organized/ unorganized sector in the country along with holistic development of entire technical textile sector on pan-India basis.
