Government Plans High-Powered Demography Mission to Tackle Illegal Immigration and Strengthen Border Security
Indian central government is preparing to launch the major national initiative called the High-Powered Demography Mission. This mission aimed at to tackle the illegal immigration and strengthening border security. This decision was announced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and it is expected to focus specially on infiltration from the Bangladesh and Myanmar.
The Centre is expected to formally announce the new High-Powered Demography Mission soon.
The initiative has been positioned as the strategic response to illegal immigration and related security concerns.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has revealed the plan while addressing the annual Rustamji Memorial lecture hosted by the Border Security Force (BSF).
According to Amit Shah, this mission will focus on stopping long-running infiltration into India’s border regions.
The initiative appears to combine the border management, state coordination and administrative enforcement.
The illegal immigration has remained a politically and administratively sensitive issue for years.
The government argues that the unchecked infiltration can create security risks.
Officials have also linked the issue to demographic changes in certain border regions.

While announcing the initiative, Amit Shah compared the upcoming mission to the government’s anti-Naxal campaign.
He suggested that just as a decades old insurgency challenge was addressed with the determination, infiltration must now be tackled with similar resolve.
He also urged to the BSF to take a leading role.
The message was clear the border security enforcement is expected to intensify.
