Hanuman Jayanti is a special Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Hanuman. He is one of the most loved and respected gods in Hinduism. Known for his strength, loyalty and deep love for Lord Rama, Hanuman is worshipped by millions of people. In 2025, Hanuman Jayanti will be celebrated on Saturday, April 12, which is also the full moon day (Purnima) in the Hindu month of Chaitra.
On this day, devotees wake up early and go to Hanuman temples. They sing prayers (artists) and offer sweets to the god.
Lord Hanuman is believed to be the 11th form (avtar) of Lord Shiva. His parents were Anjana and Kesari. It is said that the wind god Vayu helped in his birth. That is why Hanuman is also known as the son of the wind.
He was born on Chaitra Purnima under very lucky stars. His life had a divine purposes – to serve and help Lord Rama.
The Ramayana, a holy Hindu book, tells the story of how Hanuman helped Lord Rama. One of his biggest act was helping Ram rescue his wife Sita from the demon king Ravana.
