The Story Behind Hanuman Jayanti

Lord Hanuman is believed to be the 11th form (avtar) of Lord Shiva. His parents were Anjana and Kesari. It is said that the wind god Vayu helped in his birth. That is why Hanuman is also known as the son of the wind.

He was born on Chaitra Purnima under very lucky stars. His life had a divine purposes – to serve and help Lord Rama.

Hanuman’s Role in the Ramayana

The Ramayana, a holy Hindu book, tells the story of how Hanuman helped Lord Rama. One of his biggest act was helping Ram rescue his wife Sita from the demon king Ravana.

Hanuman showed great courage, smartness, and love for Rama. His stories are read and remembered by people even today.

Hanuman Jayanti is not just a festival. It is a day to become spiritually strong. Devotees do many things on this day:

  • Reading Sundar Kand (a part of the Ramayana)

  • Offering sweets like boondi and jaggery
