Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Harsh Vardhan has launched the ‘eBloodServices’ mobile application of the Indian Red Cross Society (ICRS). The E-Raktkosh team of Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) has developed the ‘eBloodServices’ mobile application under the Digital India scheme.
Through the ‘eBloodServices’ application, four units of blood can be demanded at a time and the blood bank will wait for as long as 12 hours for the person to collect it. The application allows the person to place a request of blood through the app, and the requisite units become visible to IRCS, NHQ blood bank in its E-Raktkosh dashboard. This ensures assured delivery of blood within the specified time. Hence, during the present period of COVID-19 pandemic, this app would proved to be very beneficial for those people who direly require blood.
