In a major leadership update in India’s insurance sector, HDFC ERGO General Insurance has announced the appointment of Parthanil Ghosh as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. The company’s Board of Directors approved the decision recently. Ghosh will officially take charge of the role on April 16, 2026, after receiving necessary approvals from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India and other authorities.
With this appointment, Parthanil Ghosh will succeed Anuj Tyagi, who has been leading the company for the past several years. Under Tyagi’s leadership, the company expanded its operations and strengthened its presence in the Indian insurance market. The board has expressed gratitude for his contributions and wished him success in his future ventures.
Ghosh brings more than three decades of professional experience in the financial services industry. Out of these, over 16 years have been spent in the general insurance sector. Throughout his career, he has handled several leadership roles and gained deep knowledge of insurance operations and strategy.
Parthanil Ghosh joined HDFC ERGO General Insurance in 2016 when the company merged with L&T General Insurance. Since then, he has been actively involved in strengthening the company’s business. In May 2025, he was promoted to the position of Executive Director, where he continued to play a key role in the company’s management and operations.

Ghosh also played a significant role in major integration projects within the company. One of the most important was the merger with L&T General Insurance. He was also involved in the integration of Apollo Munich Health Insurance, which helped expand the company’s presence in the health insurance market.
Keki M. Mistry, Chairman of HDFC ERGO General Insurance, praised Ghosh’s contribution to the organization. He said that Ghosh has played an important role in the company’s growth and has helped strengthen its position in the insurance industry.
