Himachal Government Signs MoU with Dairy Board to Boost Dairy Sector
The Himachal Pradesh state government has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) on 16 March 2026 to strengthen the dairy sector in the state. This agreement aims to the enhance milk processing capacity and improve dairy infrastructure and generate employment opportunities for farmers. The Himachal Pradesh and NDDB MoU is expected to support dairy based industry and promote the products under the ‘HIM’ brand.
The recently signed Himachal NDDB MoU focused on the improving the overall infrastructure of the dairy sector in the Himachal.
This agreement aims to the modernize milk processing facilities and strengthen the supply chain across the state.
The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) will support the introduction of world class technology in milk processing and dairy related bio products.
This initiative is expected to the help the farmers access better processing facilities, reduce wastage and increase the value of milk .
The main focus of the Himachal NDDB MoU is the development and operation of the Dagwar dairy project.
This project is to become the major dairy processing hub in the state.
According to Chief Minister of state Mr. Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the government had already reached an initial understanding with the National Dairy Development Board in 2023 regarding the Dagwar project.
This new agreement now focuses on operating the Dagwar dairy plant and strengthening milk processing units.
Another main objective of the Himachal NDDB MoU is the promotion of dairy products under the ‘HIM’ brand.
The state government also plans to market locally produced dairy products using this brand to enhance the identity and reputation of Himachal’s dairy sector.
Various products which marketed under the HIM brand are expected to attract consumers seeking high-quality and naturally produced dairy goods.
