ICC Player of the Month October 2025

The ICC Player of the Month awards for October 2025 have been announced, with South Africa taking both honours. All-rounder Senuran Muthusamy and women’s team captain Laura Wolvaardt have been recognised for their stellar performances in Test cricket and the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, respectively.

Senuran Muthusamy: Test Hero in Pakistan Series

Senuran Muthusamy impressed in the two-match Test series against Pakistan, which ended 1-1.

  • Took 11 wickets in the first Test in Lahore (won by Pakistan)
  • Scored 89 runs in the second Test in Rawalpindi, top-scoring in South Africa’s second innings
  • South Africa won the second Test by eight wickets
  • Named Player of the Series

Muthusamy beat stiff competition from Noman Ali (Pakistan) and Rashid Khan (Afghanistan) to win the award.

Quote: “It feels great to be named the Player of the Month by the ICC, especially for performances in Test cricket… I’m proud to have contributed with both ball and bat,” said Muthusamy.

Laura Wolvaardt: World Cup Run-Machine

Laura Wolvaardt, captain of the South African women’s team, was the standout performer in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, held in India.

  • Scored 470 runs from 8 matches in October (Total: 571 runs in the tournament)
  • Smashed three half-centuries and a career-best 169 against England in the semi-final
  • Led South Africa to the final vs India
  • Wolvaardt emerged ahead of Smriti Mandhana (India) and Ashleigh Gardner (Australia) for the monthly honour.
