In a recent academic event, Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), Greater Noida, successfully organized its flagship program “Hermes” Dialogue 6.0.” The event brought together students from top colleges across India to discuss an important global issue related to energy and international relations.
Hermes’ Dialogue 6.0 was organized by the PGDM-International Business students of BIMTECH. It is an annual event that aims to create a platform where young minds can share ideas and discuss global challenges. This year, the event saw participation from many well-known institutes, making it highly competitive and engaging.
The theme for this year was: “Should Countries Focus on Energy Independence to Ensure Global Energy Security in Times of Geopolitical Uncertainty?”
This topic is very relevant today because energy is not only important for economic growth but also plays a big role in global politics. Countries are now thinking more about becoming self-dependent in energy to reduce risks during international conflicts.
The competition received more than 250 registrations from students across India. Participants also represented 12 different countries, including India, the United States, China, Russia, Japan, Germany, Brazil, Australia, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.
This wide participation made the discussion more diverse and interesting.
The event was conducted in three main rounds:
The total prize money for the event was Rs.60,000.
Students from top institutions such as IIM Udaipur, IIM Rohtak, BIMTECH, IIT Patna, IMI Great Lakes Institute of Management and NIA Pune reached the final stages.
The event was judged by experienced professionals, including Mr. Rajeev Kher, former Commerce Secretary of India, and Mr. Sumanta Chaudhari, Principal Advisor at the Confederation of Indian Industry. They evaluated participants based on their understanding of global trade, policy and diplomacy.
