NIRF Rankings 2025 Category Wise, Top 10 Engineering Colleges in India

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, released by the Ministry of Education on September 4, has once again reaffirmed IIT-Madras as India’s leading educational institution. For the seventh year in a row, IIT-Madras secured the top position in the overall category, followed by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru and IIT-Mumbai. The 10th edition of the rankings highlighted excellence across 17 categories, including engineering, management, law, medicine, agriculture, research, and sustainable development.

  • Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized that NIRF rankings are a step towards “Viksit Bharat 2047” (Developed India 2047).
  • He highlighted the upcoming “One Nation, One Data” policy for better transparency in rankings.
  • Suggested inclusion of entrepreneurship as a ranking parameter instead of relying heavily on “perception.”

About NIRF

  • Launched in 2015 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now Ministry of Education).
  • Provides a transparent and comprehensive evaluation framework for Indian higher education institutions.
