Pampadum Shola National Park is one of the smallest but most beautiful national parks in India. It is known for its rich green forests, rare animals and peaceful surroundings. This park is part of the famous Western Ghats mountain range and is loved by nature lovers and wildlife watchers. It plays an important role in protecting the environment and offers a calm and fresh place for visitors to enjoy.
Pampadum Shola National Park is located in the Idukki district of Kerala. It lies close to the border of Tamil Nadu, near the town of Kodaikanal in the Dindigul district. The park is part of the Munnar Wildlife Division and is managed by the Kerala Forest Department.
The forest is full of evergreen trees and special mountain plants. Many types of medicinal herbs grow here. But some eucalyptus trees (called grandis) are harmful because they use too much water and grow quickly. These trees can damage the balance of nature in the park.
The park is home to many rare animals and birds.
Bird watches love Pampadum Shola National Park. Some special birds here include:
Tourists are welcome, but trekking without permission is not allowed. The Forest Department allows guided tours with forest guards for safety. The park is about 35 km from Munnar on the way to Vattavada. A check-post and welcome board are placed on the way for visitors.
