As India celebrates its 80th Independence Day on August 15, 2026, the Tricolour will once again adorn the skyline of India. Several places in India have put up gigantic national flags, which have become monuments and symbols of patriotism in themselves.
Some of them stand higher than 400 feet from the ground level, while some of them have gained importance due to their association with India’s freedom movement, Indian Armed Forces, and Indian nationalism. The Attari Wagah Joint Check Post located at Amritsar has one of the most well-known and, as per the source, tallest flag installations of India.
The flagpole is approximately around 418 feet in the height and it was inaugurated in the October 2023, and it replaced the existing flag installation which stood at 360 feet tall. It is said to be about 18 feet taller than the flagpole installed on the Pakistani side of the border.
