India and Cambodia Kick Off 2nd Edition of CINBAX-II Military Drill

India and Cambodia will set to start the two-week joint military exercise from 4th of May, 2026 and it will marks the important step for the defense partnership between the both nations. The 2nd Edition of the CINBAX-II exercise will take place in the Cambodia’s Kampong Speu Province. This exercise to be conducted against the backdrop of the evolving global challenges around the globe. By participating in this exercise both nations will strengthen their military ties.

Key Highlights of The CINBAX-II

In 2026 the second edition of the bilateral military exercise between the India and Cambodia will deepen the defense collaboration. It will be hosted in Kampong Speu Province and exercise spans around two weeks and aims to strengthen the joint operational capabilities.

Total 120 personnel from the Indian Army and it will primarily featured from a battalion of the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment. While Cambodia has contributed 160 from the Royal Cambodian Army.

The exercise also designed to simulate the real-world operational conditions and particularly those encountered during United Nations peacekeeping missions.

Focus on Counter-Terrorism and Modern Warfare Skills

The major focus of CINBAX-II exercise is to enhancing the preparedness for counter-terrorism operations and which remain a key challenge in today’s global security environment.

The exercise includes,

  • The tactical drills simulating real combat like scenarios.
  • Also training in drone operations which reflects the modern warfare trends
  • Training will be provided for the sniper and mortar handling.

These components have ensure that both armies are better equipped to respond to the asymmetric threats and complex security situations.

Enhancing Interoperability and Operational Synergy

One of the main objectives of the exercise is to improve the interoperability which refers to the ability of different military forces to work together seamlessly.

Through the joint planning, tactical exercises and practical discussions this both contingents are aim to,

  • Improve the communication and coordination during operations
  • Also to develop shared strategies for conflict situations.
  • Build the mutual understanding of each other’s operational doctrines.

Strategic Importance in the Current Global Scenario

The exercise comes at a time when the global security challenges are keep evolving which includes the terrorism, regional conflicts and emerging technological threats.
