India and Singapore Reinforce Strategic Partnership at 3rd Ministerial Roundtable in New Delhi
India and Singapore reaffirmed their long-standing and evolving bilateral relationship during the 3rd India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) held in New Delhi. The meeting brought together top ministers from both countries to deliberate on key areas of cooperation, reinforcing the strong foundations laid under their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This forum highlights the two nations’ shared commitment to regional growth, innovation, and strategic alignment in the Indo-Pacific.
The Indian delegation was led by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, alongside External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, and Railways and Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. On the Singaporean side, the delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong.
In his statement, Dr. Jaishankar emphasized the importance of strong synergy between government and industry to drive forward the next phase of the India-Singapore partnership. He noted that productive interactions also took place with members of the India-Singapore Business Roundtable (ISBR), further cementing trade and investment dialogues.
The Ministerial Roundtable centered around six strategic pillars identified to deepen collaboration,
These pillars are aligned with both countries’ national priorities and global ambitions, particularly in fostering a robust Indo-Pacific framework.
The roundtable gains added significance as Singapore remains a key partner in India’s Act East Policy, MAHASAGAR Vision, and Indo-Pacific strategy. The two countries already enjoy strong ties in trade, investment, defence, education, and cultural exchange. Singapore is one of India’s largest foreign investors and a gateway to ASEAN markets.
The unique format of the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable serves not only as a dialogue platform but also as a strategic agenda-setting mechanism. It is instrumental in defining future pathways of collaboration in a rapidly changing global order.
