India Army to Host 11 Nations for First Edition of Exercise PRAGATI in Meghalaya
The Indian Army is set to host the military delegations from 11 friendly foreign countries for the inaugural edition of the Exercise PRAGATI. This exercise will take place at the the Foreign Training Node in the Umroi, Meghalaya. With this it marks the major initiative to enhance the military cooperation, interoperability and the mutual trust among the participating nations. This move highlights the country’ growing role in to promoting the collective security and stability in the Indian Ocean Region.
The Exercise PRAGATI stands for the Partnership of Regional Armies for Growth and Transformation in the Indian Ocean Region.
It showcases the India’s strategic vision of the building strong defense partnerships and to ensuring the regional stability.
Key Objectives of the Exercise
The Indian Army had extended the invitations to 15 countries which includes the,
Out of these total11 countries are participating in this inaugural edition and it is showcasing how strong is the regional interest and cooperation.
This wide participation from the several countries highlights India’s effort to deepen ties with the ASEAN nations and neighboring countries.
The exercise is to be conducted at the Foreign Training Node in Umroi which is the key military training hub in Northeast India.
Strategic Significance
The selection of location also reflects the India’s focus to integrating the Northeast into the global strategic frameworks.
