India at Asian Games 2026: Day 7 Medal Winners Tally

On Saturday, September 26, 2026, India further cemented its medal winning streak at the Asian Games 2026, held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, by securing seven medals in Day 7. These seven medals included two golds, three silvers and two bronze medals. In all, India secured 30 medals which comprised of 4 gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze medals.

Two gold medals were won by the men’s and women’s kabaddi teams, three silver medals were won by Tajinderpal Singh Toor, Sawan Barwal and the women’s 50m rifle 3P team. Two bronze medals were won by Prachi Choudhary and Velavan Senthilkumar-Joshna Chinappa pairs.

Gold Medal Won by India Men’s Kabaddi Team

The men’s kabaddi team of India won the gold medal after defeating Iran with the score of 40-34 in the final. India lagged behind at the half-time with a score of 17-18, but performed impressively in the latter part of the game.

Sumit was one of the best players for the Indian team in the defensive department, while Arjun Deshwal had a key part to play as a raider. This victory gave India its ninth Asian Games gold medal in men’s kabaddi.

Gold Medal Won by India Women’s Kabaddi Team

The women’s kabaddi team of India also bagged the gold medal after defeating Iran with the score of 37-34 in the final.

This victory made it a perfect kabaddi gold medal double for India, as India men’s and women’s kabaddi teams both defeated Iran in their respective finals.

Tajinderpal Singh Toor – Silver in Men’s Shot Put

Tajinderpal Singh Toor earned the silver medal for India in the men’s shot put final event with his best throw of 20.64m.

Toor made the throw on his fifth attempt to claim second position. The gold medal was won by Mohammadreza Tayebise of Iran with his Games Record throw of 20.81m, followed by Mohammed Tolu from Saudi Arabia.

Toor has earlier won gold medals in the 2018 Jakarta and 2022 Hangzhou editions of Asian Games, and thus silver medal in 2026 is yet another milestone for his Asian Games career.

Sawan Barwal – Silver in Men’s Marathon

Sawan Barwal won the silver medal in the men’s marathon with a national record of 2:11:37.

It was another athletics medal in the collection of Indian contingent at Day 7.

Silver for Tajinderpal Singh Toor in Men’s Shot Put

Tajinderpal Singh Toor received the silver medal for India in the men’s shot put final event, with his best performance being 20.64 m.

The athlete achieved the feat by making the throw on his fifth attempt. The gold medal was taken home by Mohammadreza Tayebise of Iran who made the Games Record throw of 20.81 m. On the other hand, Mohammed Tolu of Saudi Arabia got the bronze medal.

Previously, Toor had won gold medals in the 2018 Jakarta and 2022 Hangzhou editions of Asian Games. Therefore, the silver medal in 2026 marks another feather in his cap in the Asian Games’ career.

Silver for Sawan Barwal in Men’s Marathon

Sawan Barwal won the silver medal in the men’s marathon with a national record time of 2:11:37.

This was another athletics medal added to the tally of Indian athletes on Day 7.

Joshna Chinappa & Velavan Senthilkumar – Bronze in Squash Mixed Doubles

After falling in their semifinals against Hong Kong, Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar managed to win bronze in squash mixed doubles, defeating Lee Ka Yi and Tang Ming Hong from China.

In the decisive game, the Indian duo held match points after leading by 10-7, but they were unable to seal their victory. Ultimately, they lost the match 11-10, 2-11, 11-10.

Various Triumphs for India in Team and Individual Sports

India also achieved some important successes in various sports during the seventh day of the games.

• Men’s Hockey: India beat Japan by 2-0 with goals scored by Abhishek and Harmanpreet Singh and went on to play in the semifinals.
• Badminton: Unnati Hooda defeated Wong Ling Ching of Malaysia by 21-14, 20-22, 21-19 and made it to the pre-quarterfinals of the women’s singles category.
• Badminton: Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand beat Japanese pair Mayu Matsumoto and Yuki Fukushima by 24-22, 21-18 to qualify for the women’s doubles quarterfinals.
• Badminton: PV Sindhu beat the Chinese Taipei player Chiu Pin-chian 21-14, 21-14 and made it to the third round.
• Squash: Anahat Singh won against Japan’s Satomi Watanabe 0-2 down and reached the women’s singles finals.
• Squash: Abhay Singh beat Pakistan’s Muhammad Irfan by 11-3, 12-10, 11-6 to reach the men’s singles finals.
• Boxing: Kapil Pokhariya defeated Iran’s Sam Estaki by 5-0 to qualify for the quarterfinals.
• Athletics: Animesh Kujur qualified for the men’s 200m final after coming second in his semifinals heat with timing of 20.81 seconds.
• Athletics: Harita Bhadra and Unnathi Aiyappa both qualified for the women’s 200m final.
• Athletics: Tejaswin Shankar emerged victorious in the decathlon high jump event with a mark of 2.18m.
• Athletics: Parul Chaudhary claimed the fourth position in the 1500m women’s finals event with a time of 4:09.46.
• Athletics: Karthik Unnikrishnan claimed the sixth position in the men’s triple jump event with 16.02m, while Praveen Chithravel could not make his mark.
• Badminton: Ayush Shetty suffered a loss to Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien-Chen with the scores of 16-21, 21-19, 17-21 in the men’s singles quarterfinals.
• Table Tennis: Manush Shah lost to China’s Lin Shidong in the men’s singles event with 0-4.
• Fencing: The men’s sabre and women’s foil teams from India suffered defeat in the quarterfinals against South Korea and Japan respectively.
• Canoe Sprint: India failed to secure any medal for itself in this sport. Harshwardhan Singh Shaktawat won the Men’s Kayak Single 500m Final B.
• Archery: In the women’s compound round of archery, Chikitha Tanipathi secured first place with 705 points. In the archery event, India team came second.
• Shooting: The women’s 50m rifle 3P individual finals were reached by Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa Vinod, while Ashi Chouksey failed to qualify.
• Swimming: Rishabh Das ended up fourth in the men’s 200m backstroke final race.
• Weightlifting: In the women’s event, Nirupama Devi lifted a total weight of 217kg with 93kg of snatch and 124kg of clean and jerk.
• Surfing: Women’s shortboard Round 2 event was delayed due to weather and surfing conditions.
