India Team Governing Body

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) functions as the regulatory body for the Indian cricket team and first-class cricket in the country. Established in 1929, the Board represents India within the International Cricket Council (ICC) and operates from its headquarters located at the ‘Cricket centre’ in Churchgate, Mumbai, Maharashtra. Renowned for its significant financial standing, the BCCI is counted among the wealthiest sporting organizations globally. It garnered $612,000,000 by selling media rights for India’s matches from 2006 to 2010. Roger Binny currently serves as the BCCI president, and Jay Shah holds the position of secretary.

India’s upcoming matches are typically determined by the International Cricket Council through its future tours program. However, the BCCI, leveraging its substantial financial influence in the cricketing realm, has frequently contested the ICC’s program. The Board has advocated for more series involving high-revenue teams like India, Australia, and England, contrasting with tours featuring teams such as Bangladesh or Zimbabwe. Instances of conflict between the BCCI and the ICC have also arisen in the past, particularly concerning sponsorships.
