India Reaffirms Support for Palestine's UN Membership Bid
India has confirmed its support for Palestine’s application for full United Nations membership and has also declared that a new set of the humanitarian and developmental assistance is on the way for Palestine. This was said during international meetings in Brussels and New York, where India reiterated its support for the principle of the two-state solution as the basis for peace in West Asia. It has also promised to build the important healthcare and vocational infrastructure projects, which shows India’s commitment to helping Palestine develop.
India has once again expressed its backing for Palestine’s bid for full membership to the UN, reiterating its stance on the necessity of establishing an independent and sovereign Palestine.
The country has also reaffirmed its commitment to the peaceful coexistence of both Israel and Palestine.
India has claimed on to the several occasions that dialogue and diplomacy are the best ways to reach stability in the region.
Honourable Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar announced a new humanitarian aid package for Palestine.
As part of the new commitment by India, the following will be established,
The projects are aimed at providing the greater healthcare, rehabilitation facilities, skill development, and livelihood opportunities to the people of Palestine.
Apart from that India also pledged to support UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
Dr. Jaishankar said that UNRWA recognizes India as one of the major emerging donor countries, citing India’s increasing contribution towards humanitarian cause for the Palestinian refugees.

Sripriya Ranganathan, Secretary (Consular, Passport and Visa) and the in-charge of West Asia issues in the Ministry of External Affairs, presented by the India’s position during the Palestine Donor Group Ministerial meeting in Brussels.
In the process, India reaffirmed its long-standing relationship with the Palestinian people and expressed its commitment to support Palestine in the area of development cooperation, capacity-building initiatives, and humanitarian assistance.
