India Strengthens Biomedical Research with First Ferret Research Facility
India has recently taken a significant step towards advancing biomedical research with the inauguration of its first Ferret Research Facility at the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) in Faridabad, Haryana. In addition to the Ferret Research Facility and the GARBH-INi-DRISHTI Data Repository, the THSTI has entered into a technology transfer agreement with Sundyota Numandis Probioceuticals Pvt. Ltd. This partnership will help commercialize a newly discovered synthetic microbial consortium known as Lactobacillus crispatus. Isolated from the reproductive tracts of women in the GARBH-INi cohort, this microbial strain holds great promise for improving women’s health.
This microbial consortium will be used in nutraceutical applications, which can promote health by influencing the human microbiome. This agreement highlights the growing importance of microbiome-based interventions in modern healthcare, and this collaboration is a prime example of how research is being translated into real-world healthcare solutions.
