India to Host 18th BRICS Summit in Delhi in September

BRICS member countries will meet during the 18th BRICS Summit to be held in India between September 12 and 13, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, during India’s chairmanship in BRICS in 2026. The theme of the Chairmanship of India in BRICS is “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” which is a people-first theme based on the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “Humanity First.”

18th BRICS Summit 2026: Date and Venue

The 18th BRICS Summit will be held on September 12 and 13, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The leaders of BRICS member and partner countries, along with the outreach invitees, will come together to discuss the issues of mutual significance.

The Summit will be held in an important year in the history of the group as 2026 marks 20 years of BRICS.

Theme of India’s BRICS Chairship

India’s 2026 BRICS Chairship Theme is “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”

The theme represents the four main priorities of India while keeping people as the center of cooperation. India has associated itself with the principle of “Humanity First” in its chairship of BRICS to get practical and development-related benefits from BRICS collaboration.

Key Highlights of India’s BRICS Chairship

India has taken its fourth BRICS Chairship on January 1, 2026. Prior to that India was the chair of BRICS in 2012, 2016, and 2021.

During the current Chairship, more than 350 meetings and high-level engagements were held across more than 25 cities in India. The following three main areas of cooperation received focus during these high-level engagements,

  • Political and Security Cooperation
  • Economic and Financial Cooperation
  • People to People and Cultural Cooperation

The business-to-business and people-to-people cooperation programs have been a significant component of the BRICS Chairship of India.
