India Tops Medal Tally at World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2025 in New Delhi
India finished on top of the medal tally at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2025 held in New Delhi, winning a total of 134 medals, including 45 gold, 40 silver, and 49 bronze. This event marked India’s first time hosting an international para-athletics event, which will now be an annual event till 2028.
The 12th season of the World Para Athletics Grand Prix witnessed an extraordinary performance by Indian para-athletes, who secured their place at the top of the medal standings. The event, held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, saw 150 Indian athletes competing in 90 medal events, showcasing remarkable skill and determination.
This outstanding performance further cements India’s growing strength in para-athletics, demonstrating the country’s commitment to inclusivity and excellence in sports.
Indian para-athlete Preethi Pal, who previously made history at the Paris Paralympics as the first Indian woman to win two Paralympic medals in track and field, continued her success by securing a bronze medal in the women’s 200m T35–T38 event.
In the women’s long jump T38, T44, T61 category, Bhavani Munniyandi clinched bronze with a 3.51m leap. The event was dominated by Australia’s Vanessa Low, a three-time Paralympic gold medallist, who registered an effort of 4.96m, while Zhanana Fekolina took silver.
In the men’s 200m T35 event, India’s Vinay bagged silver with a timing of 29.58s, while Abhishek Babasaheb Jadhav secured bronze in 31.55s. The gold went to Dmitrii Safronov from the Neutral Para Athletes contingent, who clocked 24.20s.
India dominated the men’s shot put F11–F20 category, securing a podium sweep:
In the women’s long jump T20–T37 category, India’s Bhuvi Agarwal won bronze with a 4.16m leap. The event was won by Irina Sapanzha (5.35m), while Valentina secured silver (5.16m).
In the men’s 200m T61–T64 category, India’s Pranav Prashant won silver (24.75m), while Naresh secured bronze.
India’s field event dominance continued with another podium sweep in the women’s discus throw F56–F57:

The New Delhi edition of the World Para Athletics Grand Prix was the first-ever international para event hosted by India.
