Indian weightlifters have delivered the outstanding performance at the Commonwealth Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in the Apia. As the Indian weightlifters have secured the four gold medals across multiple categories. As they are competing alongside the Universal Cup (Senior) event the India’s young athletes have showcased strength, precision and the consistency and signaling that the country’s growing dominance in international weightlifting.

Understanding Weightlifting Events: Snatch & Clean and Jerk

Weightlifting competitions are based on the two primary lifts.

Snatch: A single continuous movement in which lifting the barbell overhead.

Clean and Jerk: It is the two-step lift and first to the shoulders (clean) then overhead (jerk)

The combined total weight determines the winner making consistency across both lifts are important.
