Indian Army and Air Force Contingent Set Off for ‘Exercise KAZIND-2023’

Strengthening Bilateral Ties through ‘Exercise KAZIND-2023’

In a significant development, a contingent from the Indian Army and Indian Air Force, comprising 120 personnel, embarked on a mission to Kazakhstan today. Their objective is to participate in the 7th edition of the Joint Military ‘Exercise KAZIND-2023.’ This collaborative endeavor will take place in Otar, Kazakhstan, spanning from 30th October to 11th November 2023.

Indian Army and Air Force Join Forces

The Indian Army contingent, led by a Battalion from the DOGRA Regiment, consists of 90 personnel. Alongside them, 30 Air Force personnel from both sides will also actively partake in this year’s Exercise. This dynamic blend of Army and Air Force elements underscores the holistic nature of this bi-service exercise.

Evolution of ‘Exercise KAZIND’

This annual joint exercise, originally named ‘Exercise PRABAL DOSTYK’ when established in 2016, has come a long way. After its second edition, the exercise was elevated to a company-level exercise and subsequently renamed as ‘Exercise KAZIND.’ This year, it has reached a new milestone by evolving into a bi-service exercise, including the Air Force component.

Fostering Counter Terrorism Expertise

The primary focus of ‘Exercise KAZIND-2023’ is to hone the skills and coordination needed for conducting Counter Terrorism operations within a sub-conventional environment under the United Nations mandate. Both contingents will work together to rehearse various tactical drills, encompassing Raid, Search and Destroy Operations, Small Team Insertion and Extraction Operations, and more. Additionally, the exercise scope extends to Counter Unmanned Aerial System Operations.

Enhancing Interoperability and Skills

This joint military exercise provides a unique opportunity for both sides to gain invaluable insights into each other’s tactics, battle drills, and procedures. Such knowledge is vital for harmonious operations under the United Nations umbrella. The training will help develop the essential skills, resilience, and coordination required for conducting joint military operations in semi-urban and urban environments.

A Platform for Mutual Learning and Bonding

Beyond sharpening combat skills, ‘Exercise KAZIND-2023’ serves as a platform for the exchange of views and the sharing of best practices. The collaborative endeavor will foster a deeper understanding and strengthen the bond between the Indian and Kazakh armies. This exercise reaffirms the commitment of both nations to enhancing bilateral ties and their readiness to work together on the global stage.
