The Indian Army has carried out a successful test launch of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, further strengthening the country’s long-range strike capability. The test, conducted on December 1 from a range in the Bay of Bengal, proved the Army’s readiness and the missile’s accuracy under near-battle conditions.
The Ministry of Defence reported that the launch was executed through close coordination between a BrahMos regiment of the Southern Command and the Tri-Services Andaman and Nicobar Command. This joint effort showed how different wings of the armed forces can work together smoothly during real-time operations.
During the test, the BrahMos missile—equipped with advanced navigation and control systems—flew at supersonic speed and stayed perfectly stable. It reached the target with high precision, meeting all mission goals. The result confirmed that Army units are fully prepared for precision-strike missions in challenging warlike situations.
Southern Command chief Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth praised the teams for their professionalism and technical skills. The successful test strengthens India’s deterrence posture and reflects the growing trust in home-grown missile systems developed through strong India-Russia cooperation.
This achievement highlights India’s steady progress in building advanced defence technologies within the country. The successful BrahMos launch improves the Army’s long-range precision-strike capability and strengthens the national mission of defence self-reliance.
