Tasnim Mir, the world no. 75 ranked player from Gujarat, clinched the women’s singles title. She defeated fellow Indian Rakshitha Sree in a compelling final match with straight sets of 21-15, 21-19. This victory marked Tasnim’s third challenger title and her first since 2022, indicating her consistent performance and improvement in the international arena.
In the men’s singles category, Tharun Mannepalli from Telangana emerged victorious. He defeated Yudai Okimoto of Japan in the final, winning in straight sets with a score of 21-15, 21-15. This win represents Tharun’s second international title, following his success at the Kazakhstan International Challenge in April 2024.
While India dominated the singles categories, the men’s doubles final saw a setback. The Indian pair of Prakash Raj and Gouse Malik had to settle for silver. They were defeated by the French duo of Julien Maio and William Villeger in straight sets with a score of 9-21, 14-21.
The 3rd BWF Saint-Denis Reunion Open 2024 is a Grade 3 level international badminton tournament with a prize pool of USD 25,000. It is part of the Badminton Confederation Africa tour of the BWF and is organized at the continental level by member national associations.
