Indian-British Writer's Book on AI Shortlisted for Women's Prize
The inaugural Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction has announced its shortlist of six books, including “Code Dependent: Living in the Shadow of AI” by Indian-British journalist and commentator Madhumita Murgia. The book explores the impact of artificial intelligence on human society.

The common thread among the books is their originality of voice and ability to turn complex ideas and personal trauma into compelling prose.
The jury, chaired by historian and broadcaster Suzannah Lipscomb, included fair fashion campaigner Venetia La Manna, academic Nicola Rollock, biographer Anne Sebba, and author Kamila Shamsie. They looked for books that offer new perspectives and an alternative lens to examine the past, present, and future.
The shortlist introduces readers to new places and diverse perspectives, offering a unique opportunity to explore various subjects through the eyes of talented writers.
