The Indian Cost Accounts Service (ICoAS) celebrated its Foundation Day in New Delhi with the theme ‘ICoAS @ Viksit Bharat’. The event highlighted the crucial role of ICoAS officers in shaping the economic future of India by 2047. Dr. T. V. Somanathan, Finance Secretary & Secretary (Expenditure), was the Chief Guest and emphasized the importance of ICoAS officers in realizing the vision of a developed India.
Keynote Address: Dr. T. V. Somanathan praised ICoAS officers for their dedication and impact. He released an e-Book titled Indian Cost Accounts Service: An Overview, detailing ICoAS achievements.
Documentary and Presentation: A documentary showcased the journey and contributions of ICoAS. A presentation emphasized the need to expand cost audit to government-subsidized entities.
First Session: Dr. Vivek Joshi, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, discussed cost control techniques in banking and launched the first edition of ICoAS: Insights Magazine. Dr. S.K. Sarin, Director of ILBS, spoke about liver health.
Second Session: Shri Rameesh Kailasam (CEO, IndiaTech.org) presented on digital currency. Dr. Mayank Sharma, IDAS, discussed strengthening the professional skills of cost accountants. Shri B.B. Goyal, Former Head of Service, gave a concluding talk.
Resource Optimization: ICoAS officers aid in the optimal use of resources through effective allocation, monitoring, cost control, and efficiency techniques.
Revenue Assessment: They assist in transparent revenue assessments and combat evasions and commercial frauds.
Pricing and Trade Practices: ICoAS contributes to fixing reasonable prices, protecting against unfair trade practices, and enforcing anti-dumping and anti-predatory pricing measures.
Advisory Role: They provide advice on cost and related financial management issues to various government entities.
