India’s First Quantum Computer to be Launch in Amaravati: Chandrababu Naidu Announces

For the major leap in the advanced technology as the Andhra Pradesh will launch the India’s first quantum computer on the April 14, 2026 in Amaravati. It was announced by the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naid and this initiative is part of the state’s ambitious Amaravati Quantum Valley project. The program was backed by the strong industry partnerships and the National Quantum Mission. And with this it aims to position the India as the global leader in next-generation computing and the innovation.

India’s First Quantum Computer

The launch of the India’s first quantum computer is the transformative step in the country’s technological journey.

Unlike the traditional computers this quantum computers use the principles of quantum mechanics to solve high complex problems at un-precedented speeds.

This initiative will place the Andhra Pradesh as the leader in the emerging technologies and it will strengthens India’s position in the global digital economy.

The project is expected to

  • Accelerate the scientific research and innovation
  • Also enable breakthroughs in cryptography, drug discovery and AI
  • Will enhance India’s capabilities in high-performance computing

Amaravati Quantum Valley: India’s Future Innovation Hub

The Amaravati Quantum Valley also envisioned as the world-class ecosystem for the quantum research, startups and the industry collaboration.

This project will feature the,

  • 8 dedicated towers for the quantum computing and innovation
  • Relatable infrastructure for research institutions and startups
  • The collaborative environment connecting academia, industry and government

This initiative will be aiming to transform the Amaravati into as the global quantum technology hub by 2030.

Driving Self-Reliance and Global Competitiveness

Honorable Chief Minister of the Stare N Chandrababu Naidu stated that the importance of building the self-reliant quantum ecosystem.

The focus areas include the to reducing the dependence on imported technology and also to promote ‘Made in Amaravati’ in quantum products. It also encouraging the domestic innovation and manufacturing.

It is also aligns with India’s broader vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and specially in high-tech sectors like quantum computing.

Industry Partnerships and Research Collaboration

The project has already gained the strong support with participation of industry and academia.

Key developments include that the several MoUs signed with 15 companies and out of them 7 are already operational at Medha Towers, Vijayawada.

Also the collaboration with global and national institutions such as the,

  • IBM
  • Centre for Development of Advanced Computing
  • Defence Research and Development Organisation
  • Bhabha Atomic Research Centre
  • Indian Institute of Technology Madras
  • Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati

What is Quantum Computing?

Quantum computing is one of the type of computing which uses quantum bits (qubits) instead of the classical bits.

Unlike traditional computers,

Classical bits are = 0 or 1
and in Qubits = 0, 1 or both simultaneously (superposition)

This allows quantum computers to solve the complex and challenging problems faster and also handle the massive datasets efficiently.
