International Malala Day is celebrated in the honor of celebrating the birthday of Malala Yousafzai. Malala Yousafzai is an activist who raised her voice and advocated publicly for the education and rights of women. She was born in Mingora, Pakistan where the Pakistani Taliban has banned the girls from going to school. At a very young age, she revolted against this law, and at the age of 16, she was at the UN headquarters speaking about the rights of women and appealing to the world leaders to ensure basic rights and free education for women.
