This gathering sparked a media campaign and an eight-day strike, during which the sex workers demanded the reopening of hotels where they worked, an end to police brutality, and investigations into the murders of their colleagues. Although their demands were not met and the church was eventually cleared, this pivotal event ignited movements across Europe and the United Kingdom, raising awareness about the struggles faced by sex workers.
