IRCTC Partners With Zomato For Delivery Of Pre-Booked Meals
In a significant development for train travelers in India, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC) has joined forces with the popular food delivery platform, Zomato. This strategic alliance aims to enhance the dining experience of railway passengers by offering a wider array of food options through IRCTC’s E-Catering segment.
IRCTC, known for revolutionizing railway ticket booking and catering services in India, is now venturing into a new realm of passenger services through its partnership with Zomato. The collaboration aims to cater to the diverse culinary preferences of railway passengers, ensuring they have access to a variety of meals that suit their tastes and dietary requirements. The partnership is set to provide travelers with increased choices, convenience, and, ultimately, a more enjoyable and comfortable journey.
As part of this groundbreaking partnership, IRCTC has launched a Proof of Concept (PoC) at five prominent railway stations: New Delhi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Varanasi. This PoC allows passengers to order and receive pre-ordered meals through the IRCTC E-Catering portal, with the assistance of Zomato. It is a significant step towards offering travelers a seamless and convenient food ordering experience during their train journeys.
The primary goal of this collaboration is to enhance the travel experience of rail passengers. With a broader array of food options available, travelers can now enjoy their favorite meals or explore new culinary delights while on the move. This partnership is all about making train journeys more enjoyable, comfortable, and in line with the evolving preferences of passengers.
After the announcement, Zomato’s shares witnessed an uptick, trading at a 52-week high of Rs 115 per share. This collaboration represents a strategic move for Zomato as it expands its services to a new and vast customer base.
The catering arm of IRCTC has already introduced special Navratri thalis, catering to the specific dietary needs and preferences of fasting passengers. These initiatives underscore IRCTC’s commitment to providing a holistic and delightful travel experience for its passengers.
