Jhuma Khatun banned for 4 years for failing dope test

Indian middle-distance runner, Jhuma Khatun was banned for 4 years for using banned substances(Steroids) by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for the doping case from 2018. The sample from Jhuma Khatun collected during the National Inter-State Championships in June 2018 in Guwahati meet.

In National Inter-State Championships, Guwahati, she won a bronze each in 1500 m and 5000 m, tested negative for the presence of substances by the National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL). The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) then decided to test the sample of Khatun at its Montreal Laboratory in Canada and it returned positive for dehydrochloromethyl testosterone.
