JKRLM wins SKOCH Gold Award for Marketing Avenues to SHGs
The Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission (JKRLM) achieved a significant milestone by receiving the prestigious SKOCH Gold Award under the theme “State of Governance India 2047”. This award signifies the organization’s dedication in promoting livelihoods and empowering communities, marking their first award since the program’s inception.
The Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission’s goal is to combat poverty by establishing strong grassroots institutions for the underprivileged. The mission aims to enhance their livelihoods, income, and personal growth while promoting confidence and self-belief. It also ensures access to government schemes, enabling a life of contentment, happiness, and dignity.
AVSAR scheme of Airport Authority of India
This initiative allocates space to self-help groups at airports, allowing them to display and sell their region’s self-made products, including handicrafts and handloom items. It attracts a diverse customer base, including national and international tourists, while also preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir and increasing the income of SHG members.
Women’s Haat and District Rural Haat
Women’s Haat and District Rural Haat are revolutionary models that facilitate direct market links for SHGs. These marketplaces empower SHG members to directly engage with consumers, showcase products, and negotiate fair prices. By removing intermediaries, these initiatives significantly enhance the income and economic independence of women in SHGs, leading to improved livelihoods.
SHG Products on Global E-Commerce Platforms
Another initiative involved making SHG products available on well-known e-commerce platforms like Meesho, Flipkart, and Amazon. This move empowers rural women to access global e-commerce platforms, allowing them to expand the scale of their businesses.
The recognition stems from JKRLM’s exceptional efforts in creating marketing opportunities for Self-Help Groups in Jammu & Kashmir. It acknowledges the tireless commitment of the organization, particularly the Mission Director’s instrumental role in establishing marketing avenues at district and national levels. JKRLM’s innovative measures have resulted in sustainable marketing avenues for SHGs in the region.
