At the 37th National Games, Hangzhou Asian Games silver medallist Jyothi Yarraji, and Tejas Shirse displayed their athletic prowess, smashing National Games records in the 100m and 110m hurdles events.
Jyothi Yarraji, a remarkable athlete, broke her own record by finishing the 100m hurdles in just 13.22 seconds. Her incredible speed and technique were on full display, leaving the competition in her wake.
Tejas Shirse initially set the Games record in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.80 seconds during the morning event. In the final, he managed to improve his timing even further, clocking in at an impressive 13.71 seconds.
In the 20km walk, Priyanka Goswami displayed her exceptional endurance by breaking the Games record with a finishing time of 1:36:35 seconds, surpassing the previous record held by Munita Prajapati.
Vithya Ramraj of Tamil Nadu secured the gold medal in the 400m event, finishing in just 52.85 seconds. Her performance was outstanding and showcased her incredible speed and stamina.
In the men’s 400m event, K. Avinash of Tamil Nadu clinched the gold medal, leaving the competition behind. Haryana’s Vikrant Panchal and Maharashtra’s Rahul Ramesh Kadam secured the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Abha Khatua of Maharashtra demonstrated her strength and precision by winning the gold medal in women’s shot put with a remarkable throw of 17.09m.
Muhammed Anees of Kerala soared to victory in the long jump, achieving a lunge of 8.15m and securing the gold medal.
Lili Das of West Bengal showcased her speed and determination by winning the gold medal in the women’s 1500m race, beating her fellow international competitor, K M Chanda of Delhi.
Ritesh Ohre of Madhya Pradesh stood victorious in the men’s 1500m race, securing the gold with a remarkable time of 3:40.93 seconds.
Suraj Panwar of Uttarakhand demonstrated his endurance by winning gold in the men’s 20km walk with a time of 1:27:43 seconds. Services’ Servin secured the silver, and Hardeep of Haryana won the bronze.
Tejaswin Shankar, representing Delhi, showed his all-around athleticism by leading the decathlon with 4,062 points after Day 1. Kerala’s N Thowfeeq was a close follower.
Delhi’s Kushagra Rawat proved to be a force to be reckoned with in long-distance swimming, as he bettered the National Games record in the men’s 1500m freestyle with a stunning time of 15:38.73 seconds. He left his competitors far behind, with a lead of almost 30 meters.
