Jyotirao Phule Jayanti 2026: India Begins 200th Birth Anniversary Year
India commemorates the birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule on the 11th April every year. He was one of the greatest social reformers in the Indian history. In the 2026 it year holds the special importance as it marks the beginning of the 200th birth anniversary celebrations of Phule Ji and which making it more than the remembrance. He Born in 1827 in the Maharashtra and Mahatma Phule rose from the humble beginnings to become athe powerful voice against social inequality, caste discrimination and the gender injustice.
Mahatma Jyotibha Phule believed that the education is the strongest tool for the social change. At the time when access to education was restricted but he took revolutionary steps to make the learning inclusive and accessible.
Along with Savitribai Phule, he opened the India’s first school for girls in 1848. This was the significant move in the deeply conservative society and laid the foundation for women’s education in India.
Phule strongly emphasized on to empowering the women through education would as it uplift entire generations.
He also had belief that ‘education should first reach girls’ and it is still remains relevant even today.
In the year 1873 Mahatma Phule founded the Satyashodhak Samaj which is the revolutionary movement which is aimed at promoting truth, equality and social justice.

His famous belief that true freedom cannot be exist without the equal rights for all and it is still continues in modern India.

Even after he was facing the health challenges which is including a serious stroke he was continued working tirelessly for society.
