List of Barcode Country Code
Barcode Country Codes (also called Country code prefixes or GS1 Country Codes) do not inherently represent countries or their origins, but they serve as a standardized method for encoding information about products, including their manufacturer, type, and other identifying details. Barcodes come in various formats, with the Universal Product Code (UPC) and European Article Number (EAN) being two of the most common types. These barcodes are used globally and can be found on items sold around the world. They provide a way for retailers to track inventory and prices efficiently, making the checkout process faster and more accurate.
While barcodes themselves don’t directly indicate a product’s country of origin, they can be used in conjunction with other codes or labels to provide this information. For instance, the first few digits of an EAN or UPC code can represent the country or organization that issued the manufacturer code. Additionally, certain products may have country-of-origin labels required by government regulations, which can be found on packaging alongside the barcode. These labels can help consumers make informed decisions about the products they purchase and enable customs and trade authorities to track the origins of imported goods.
