Construction of the Tomb

The construction of Akbar’s tomb was initiated by his son, Jahangir, in 1605 and completed in 1613. The total cost of construction at that time was approximately 1.5 million rupees. The tomb, made of red sandstone, is renowned for its architectural beauty.

Jodha Bai’s Contribution

After Akbar’s death, his wife Jodha Bai commissioned the construction of a garden near his tomb. Following her death, Jahangir buried Jodha Bai near Akbar’s grave. She is the only wife of Akbar whose grave lies beside his.
