Lord Buddha Sacred Relics Enshrined In Thailand
In a ceremony, the Holy Relics of Lord Buddha and His Two Disciples were enshrined for public reverence. The atmosphere at the Mandapam at Sanam Luang Pavilion in Bangkok was filled with respect and echoed with chants, marking this occasion.
The Governor of Bihar, Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, presented the Holy Relics of Buddha to Thai Prime Minister (Chairman), Mr. Srettha Thavisin. Simultaneously, Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar entrusted the Relics of Arahants Sariputra & Maha Maudgalayana to Thai Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Somsak Thepsutin and Thai Culture Minister.
A procession, emanating from the national museum, showcased the cultural heritage of Thailand. This parade, spanning 26 days, celebrated the spiritual significance of the Relics and highlighted the friendship between India and Thailand, symbolized by the display of their national flags and cultural exhibitions.
An exhibition titled “Buddhabhoomi Bharat,” organized by the states of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, was inaugurated. This exhibition showcased the spiritual and religious tourist destinations in India, strengthening the cultural ties between the two nations.
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar thanked for joining the ceremony, highlighting Lord Buddha’s teachings of compassion and peace. The Thai Culture Minister also thanked India for hosting the exposition, aiming for closer ties and promoting Buddha’s message.
Earlier, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar visited the Wat Pho temple in Bangkok, presenting a set of sacred texts and paying homage to the Reclining Buddha statue. Engaging in discussions with Most Ven Dr. Debvajracharya, Deputy Abbot of Wat Pho, the Governor explored the cultural connections between Thailand and India.
